Living SMALL: The Life of Small Houses
A great new book about the values of living in a small, purposeful house

20, 3D BUILDING INFORMATION MODELS (BIM)

The interactivity of this book is part of the learning experience.

There are 20 three dimensional building information models (BIM) included on the CD in the back of this book. The purpose of the BIM models is to help readers visualize the small houses discussed in the graphic narratives.

The 3D models give an idea of how the interior and exterior spaces feel in three dimensions. Interactivity and visual “play” deepen the information experience for the reader.

BIM models differ from architectural models because they are information tools, specifically built to visually communicate the construction information associated with the structures they represent.

These computer models are a separate resource that gives readers the ability to use and explore the potential of small houses on their own. The models can be shaped, shadowed and oriented to any place on earth.

The SketchUp Viewer and program are included with the CD. The SketchUp viewer lets a reader spin, zoom, pan, and print the 3D models. Readers can also change the model display, color, shade and shadow, and see preset views built into each model file.

The trial copy of the SketchUp 5.0 program is also included for those that are interested in trying their own models or modifying one of the 20, 3D BIM models that come with this book.
