Being
SUSTAINABLE
Building
Systems Performance
This book details the mechanics
of sustainability and the challenges of integrating mechanical,
electrical, and plumbing systems into a high performance building
in order to maximize its environmental efficiency.
The point of the book is
to help readers understand the integrated relationships designers
and constructors face putting a building together as a single,
fully interactive, and sustainable "container" of building
systems.
The book uses a graphic narrative
style to visually explain the layers found in the sequence of
system installations, each in support of the other, but all crowded
into the same space.
The workers involved in this
narrative are the engineers who size and specify each of these
systems, as well as the subcontractors who must coordinate, compromise,
and assemble them in the real world.
